Set within a lush landscape, this 4500 sq ft home in Parbani, Maharashtra is envisioned as a harmonious interplay of architecture and nature. Rooted in Vastu principles, the design breaks away from a monolithic structure, instead imagining the building as a series of modern masses carefully organized around a traditional central courtyard and interspersed within a garden.
A stone pathway gently rising along a landscaped mound leads visitors into the heart of the home—an open-to-sky central courtyard that anchors the spatial experience. Around this, the rooms unfold in a sequence, each forming intimate courtyard gardens—distinct in their program, privacy, and quality of light.
Strategically placed outdoor decks nestle beneath the existing trees, offering shaded spaces for rest and reflection. The dining room to the east and a shared courtyard to the west open into the central courtyard, creating fluid transitions between the built and the natural, dissolving boundaries between inside and out.
On the upper floor, corridors and rooms overlook the courtyards below, while smaller gardens are tucked between rooms, continuing the interplay of green and built spaces. The architecture celebrates porosity, serenity, and a deep connection to landscape.
