The Town of Perryville is transforming an inaccessible stretch of riverfront into a publicly owned park through a nature-based shoreline restoration and stormwater management project. Designed to expand recreational access for more than 250,000 annual visitors, the project will feature a license-free fishing area (approved by DNR), kayak access, walking trails, connections to the Lower Susquehanna Heritage Greenway water trail system, and new greenspace for community use.
Beyond recreation, the restoration will deliver critical environmental and economic benefits. It will provide TMDL reductions for the Town, enhance climate resilience, reduce storm-related flooding, improve habitat quality, and support the vitality of Perryville’s downtown and waterfront economy.
