To inspire sustainable, resilient, and inclusive design, the team of consultants started with a ‘Nature Of Place’  study that is made up of 10 measures, reflecting the AIA Framework for Design Excellence. It organized our thinking, facilitated conversations with clients and the communities we serve, and set meaningful goals and targets for climate action. Our team’s role as part of SCAPE was then to focus on a comprehensive placemaking and public realm/landscape vision for the site that integrates and engages landscape, public space programming, pedestrian circulation and connections, and sustainability. The plan is physical and spatial in nature, but addresses and engages the social and ecological dynamics of the site. My role was to conduct design studies, rigorous iterations and arrive at one masterplan recommendation. I also assisted in creating the recommendation document with conducting existing site analysis, precedent studies, and crafting written language for the report.
